The beginning of your journey, and where Mario and friends end up after following all of Bowser’s footsteps from Peach’s Castle.

Palma Oasis is a very expansive desert oasis whose waters are so deep that cheep cheeps can swim through them with ease. The oasis’ waters are even large enough to let more than a handful of ships sail through at once. The vast supply of water in the oasis helps provide growth for the oasis’ eponymous palm trees, lush grasses on its banks, as well as the notoriously violent piranha plants.

The desert’s outskirts are much drier, being made up mostly only of sand and some hardier, less colorful shrubbery.

The waters of Palma also make way for some rather scenic waterfalls on Palma’s hilly edges, as well as many massive water geysers. Perhaps the player can use the geysers as platforms.

1-1 Sandy Slopes

The player's journey begins here, at the very outskirts of Palma.

The terrain is mostly sloped, being covered in nothing but sand and some dry orange shrubs. Several pyramid-like settlements have been built here, perhaps by the Koopa Troopa and goomba inhabitants.

This should be an excellent start for the player to learn the ropes of running, jumping, sliding, and goomba squashing all over again.

1-2 Palma’s Pokey Outskirts

Closer to the heart of Palma Oasis, these outskirts provide more shrubbery than the sandy slopes before them. Numerous cacti grow here, mainly the tall and sentient pokeys that wiggle back and forth. Here, pokeys can be found being lifted up and down and left to right.

The piping on the edge of the oasis has also become a bit more harmful, as piranha plants have been spotted appearing out of them. But, maybe the piranha plants have a preference for pipe color?

Palms do grow in this portion of the desert, but their leaves are not as lush and vibrant as they are at the heart of Palma. They appear more wilted.

1-3 Oasis Geyser Gush

The heart of Palma Oasis makes way for interesting, elevated terrain, covered in thick layers of lush, oasis grass. Large waterfalls spew down from these landforms, creating quite the scene around the oasis’ edge.

Also in this portion of the oasis are massive water geysers gushing constantly out of the water, allowing the local wildlife to walk on them. All of the palm trees here have much greener fronds, too.

This portion of the oasis makes the perfect hot spot for Goombrats and Koopa Paratroopas to live and play around the vast and various water features. Perhaps even build sandcastles with the muddy ground. Numerous piranha plants can be found here, too, growing both up and down along the oasis terrain.

1-4 Weeded Cheep Cheep Plunge

The first time you’ll have to dip below the water’s surface on your watery quest to save Peach.

The waters of Palma Oasis are nowhere near as shallow as your typical oasis, as seen by the numerous schools of cheep cheeps of various sizes that swim above the oasis bed.

The red ones like to swim back and forth in the open, whereas the green ones like to hide in pipes and keep swimming once they come out. Are they all like this?

While some pipes will act as hiding spots for green cheep cheeps, others will force strong vertical currents of bubbles out of them. These may mess with your swimming trajectory.

This freshwater habitat also makes way for many blades of seaweed, unfazed by the poor salinity of the oasis water. They grow very well in the rocky oasis beds.

But, watch out! The madlad himself, Boom Boom, has been deemed too unworthy and too easy to deal with, so, instead of having an entire fortress dedicated to him, he’s been asked to act guard by the oasis bank.

1-BS Captain Prick’s Deck Donuts

Captain Prick, the cocky, tall, bouncy pokey captain has been tasked with leading a fleet of battleships across Palma Oasis, equipped with cannons and bill blasters for defense.

Each of his ships have come equipped with donut blocks, making standing in place a lot more of a bad idea.

But, is Captain Prick really as strong as he thinks he is, especially with his arena’s collapsing floor?
